Affordability has always been a key pillar of the Club, which was established through the generous gift of land by the Pew family, with the intention that it would be affordable for the year-round residents of Chester to socialize and play golf as equals with summer residents. Historically, dues have not be set by comparison to peers but after diligent and careful examination of the operational and sustainability needs of this Club and with full transparency, accountability, and member input and an eye to affordability.
The Club has over 70-years successfully managed to keep the Club’s finances sustainable and on track for the benefit of both members and the community, with low fees (the lowest of any course in Nova Scotia), while at the same time making significant improvements to the golf course and facilities, including the expansion from a 9-hole to an 18-hole course. This history confirms the founders’ intent of affordability and inclusivity.
